In 2008, the Plastics Business Division developed a floor under cover (“floor cover” below) with completely different materials and shape from existing products. This floor cover, mounted on the new-type “Fair Lady Z,” is the lightest in the world. Unipres has been granted patents worldwide for its multi-functional shape. Here we explain the attractions of this world’s lightest floor cover completed by the Plastics Business Division through a process of trial and error.

The 21 group members who developed the super-deep drawn metal fuel tank brilliantly won the UNIPRES President’s Award Special Prize with an idea that broke the bounds of common practice and a spirit of solidarity that transcended departmental boundaries. Although some of them feared that it was not possible, their strong sense of mission enabled them to persevere to the end. The six members of the team who built the fuel tank talk about the difficulties they experienced up to completion and their future goals.
